With the COVID-19 pandemic finally put in the rear view mirror, this post is a long back on my triathlon season off 2022.
In 2022, I realized a long time goal of completing IRONMAN Canada — Penticton; a back-of-mind dream that I harboured since the mid-19 nineties!
A whole host of things happened that made this dream come true. Meeting Elliot Bassett certainly was a catalyst. The City of Penticton re-licensing the event after an almost decade hiatus being another.
Part of the journey to Penticton was this year's IRONMAN Victoria 70.3. Even though I completed my first full distance race in Italy in 2021, it was this year's event at the end of May that cemented the confidence needed to complete the Penticton course in August.

A broken pinkie toe on my left foot certainly didn't help the running volume heading into the summer months; the overall trend of reduced running volume continued in 2022 however.
