TRAINING LOG
There are many internet services for tracking physical exercise; I have accounts with a few of those platforms. They are effective at organizing datapoints collected from an electronic device.
The inconvience of a week-long outage on one of those platform prompted me to build this training journal.
What I created was a journal focused on the daily/weekly experience of training and less about the numbers.
HOW IT WORKS (TLDR)
The two most important weeks are always my CURRENT and PREVIOUS weeks of training.
A CALENDAR gives an overview of time invested/remaining until the last race of the year.
Simple text files, one per week, are used to jot down daily activities. The text is written in a shorthand format called "markdown".
An application reads the text files, producing this training journal (and entire website).
The application I created for myself is called a Static Site Generator. If you are interested, the computer code for all of this is hosted and downloadable via GitHub
RELEVANCY
- Those embarked on their own similar journey and want to read about my process.
- My boss who may be wondering "the real reason" we are getting too close to our project's deadline.
- Most importantly, this training log is relevant for me, as a record my experiences, the hurdles I face, the victories won and importanly, the bonds formed along the way.
2025 TRAINING FOCUS
Previous years ended with an Ironman distance event. In 2025, I am looking forward to a whole different challenge.
